about
Welcome! My name is Ugonna Nwakama but many call me "Ugo" for short. I have been interested in computers since the first time I saw one and I started teaching myself Java programming in 2005. I have industry experience with C#, Java, Python, SQL, Linux shell scripting, Android app development among others. I have dabbled in various technologies and I am quick to master new technologies
After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and working professionally as a software developer for some years, I sought something "lighter" and got a Masters degree in Information Systems at New Jersey Institute of Tech, only to fall back into my passion as a software engineer afterwards.
Please do look around to learn more.

projects
While most of my software development projects are subject to occupational non-disclosure agreements, in my spare time, I have built some tools for personal use:
- Product Popularity Predictor (2013). A sentiment analysis and web-crawler bot (written in Python) that attempts to determine the popularity of consumer products around specific parts of the web through semi-supervised machine learning. Report available here (pdf).
- Eduplanner (2012). Microsoft store app designed to make it easy for students to keep track of their classes, assignments, deadlines, events, appointments and others. It also enables note-taking in a simple-to-use format. Available here.
- Crosshare (2010). Google chrome extension that allows sharing of web pages with other chrome browsers and Android devices. Server written on Google App-engine (python) with source available here.
- Tour.ist (2011). Android application that shows an Augmented-Reality view of landmarks and points-of-interest around the user. Source available here.
